Architectural elegance in Wilrijk
In the peaceful residential district of Wilrijk, Antwerp, this private residence stands as a refined expression of minimalist architecture. Designed by Merijn Degraeve, the space is a study in balance—where clean lines, natural materials, and thoughtful proportions come together to create a calming, contemporary home. The layout encourages openness and flow, with each room seamlessly connected to the next. Large surfaces and subtle textures allow the architecture to breathe, while the restrained palette enhances the sense of serenity. Every detail, from the spatial composition to the material choices, reflects a deep respect for simplicity and timeless design. This residence is more than a living space—it’s a quiet retreat that invites reflection and comfort.

Lighting that complements the vision
To preserve and elevate the architectural purity of the apartment, Moon.Lighting developed a lighting concept that is both discreet and expressive. Using inti in-line directional fixtures, the lighting design introduces a layer of warmth and precision that enhances the spatial experience without drawing attention to itself. The fixtures are seamlessly integrated into the architecture, casting soft, directional light that highlights textures, guides movement, and defines zones within the open layout. The result is a lighting scheme that feels natural and intuitive—supporting the architecture rather than competing with it. The residence reveals how light can transform a space, adding emotional depth and visual clarity. It’s a perfect example of how architecture and lighting, when thoughtfully combined, can create environments that are both functional and inspiring.
