Slagmolen
Slagmolen
In 2013, Bert Meewis and Karlijn Libbrecht conceived the plan to convert the old storage building at their two-star restaurant Slagmolen in Opglabbeek into a banqueting hall. To design it, the 25-year-long experience of interior architecture of Pascal Segers of PAS Interieur in Dilsen-Stokkem was called upon. That made it into a high-end and almost completely Limburg state-of-the-art concept. Thus, for the lighting of the new banqueting hall, various types of lighting fixtures from Kreon were used. The fantastically successful result of this collaboration has been there to be admired since early March during any of the better weddings, exquisite receptions or business presentations which now take place in the Banqueting Hall of the Slagmolen.
Well thought-out lighting plan
During the course of drawing up the lighting study, PAS interieur and Kreon based theirselves on the idea that the lighting ought to look somewhat more special than in a private home. Slagmolen is a starred restaurant, so in the banqueting hall as well, dining had to become a total experience in which not only the taste must be up to the mark, but in which the interior must also offer added value.
For the lighting in the banqueting hall of Slagmolen, they combined recessed and protruding lighting fixtures from the Kreon range because this yields a visually stronger result than recessed fixtures alone. When choosing the most suitable fixtures, they have not only taken account of the aesthetic side of the story, but also the technical aspect. For example, an acoustic ceiling has been incorporated into the entrance hall and the bar area, and you cannot just use any type of fixture in that.
In addition, they have worked with several lighting circuits. After all, for an evening party with dancing, you have to use the lighting to create a completely different atmosphere than, for example, for a business meeting. And if there’s a party, all the lights should be on when receiving the guests, but as the evening progresses it is important that certain circuits can be dimmed. Depending on the type of event, that can be done very easily with an iPad.
