Architectural clarity in Haus-O

Haus-O, located in Neustadt an der Weinstraße, is a private residence that embodies architectural purity and spatial calm. Designed by Alexander Bourquin, the home is a study in minimalism, where form follows function and every detail is intentional. The design favours clean lines, open volumes, and a restrained material palette that allows the architecture to speak for itself. Natural light plays a central role, animating the space throughout the day and reinforcing the sense of openness and tranquillity. Haus-O is not just a place to live—it is a space to reflect, recharge, and reconnect with simplicity.

Lighting as an architectural element

In Haus-O, lighting is more than a technical necessity—it is an integral part of the architectural language. The lighting concept, realised with kreon aplis 80, aplis in-line 80, and holon 40 fixtures, enhances the spatial experience without drawing attention to itself. The sculptural oran pendant craft luminaires serve as visual anchors in key areas, adding warmth and tactile contrast to the minimalist interior. Recessed and track-mounted fixtures provide subtle directionality, highlighting textures and guiding movement through the home. Together, the lighting and architecture form a cohesive whole—where light defines space, and space gives light its meaning.
